Brief History

While only established in 2009, we have almost 3 decades of design experience with the web. Starting back in the mid 80’s with simple text based BBS’s and using programs like TAG BBS on a 300bps modem we made discussion forums and file transfers available to everyone with a PC.

Our first advertisement contest netted our BBS a 2400 baud modem (only large businesses had them at the time) which allowed my bulletin board the ability to have multiple users on the same site at the same time. A rarity back then. The advent of the internet brought pictures to the users, and now full color motion graphics are available to everyone with an internet connection.

The advantage

This is how we got our start.  Heck, it’s even in our name.

We started by designing websites and web advertisements.  The times have changed and the technology has improved in ways that nobody could have foreseen but we have been there every day along the way learning as the terminology, technology and processes have changed and updated.

Even as we go back to our roots in 1985 we are amazed at how much has changed but in a tiny way has stayed very much the same.

Even though we started in design, development was never far behind.

It’s easy to focus on one side of the package but by learning the technical side of development it has forced us to really understand how the changes we make in design for a client always affect the final development and coded outcome of every site.

There is a reason why design and development go hand in hand.

Search Engine Optimization

It takes more than just giving an item on a page a simple attribute tag.  If you want to improve your google results you have 1 of 2 proven methods.

Method 1.  Bring your wallet… the more you spend the best chance you have of being the #1 item in a typical google search.  Paid searches always end up on top… in the end Google is a business and that is one of many ways they earn their billions.

Method 2.  Search Engine Optimization.  Making sure your web pages have focused details and meta information helps make sure that Google knows what it’s looking at and that it matches what the client is searching for.

Maintenance

If you have your site built and hosted by D2 Web Designs or another design firm and hosting company we can make sure your website is running smoothly and it remains updated to protect you from nefarious hackers.  Sometimes it makes no sense, your site doesn’t collect money or have any personal information on it but hackers love to cause chaos.  They are not always looking for information, sometimes they just want to be difficult…. I have no idea why… but keeping up with the maintenance on your website is just one a several steps required to keep them at bay.

Nothing will stop a good, determined hacker… but we can do our best to make sure their actions don’t ruin your day.
